Help break the isolation of 星空传媒 seniors and retirees

Help us help the older members of our community. People over 70 are supposed to be staying inside at home.

If you are a staff member or a retiree over 70, let us know if you need a friendly telephone visit or if you could use a grocery or pharmacy drop off.

Younger staff, let us know if you are available to help out. We will match you up!

I am writing this to you from home, where I am spending most of my time working. This is an historic time and we are facing an unprecedented challenge.

My main focus right now is to find ways to support our employees so that you may support our core mission to educate students.

Stay home and save lives

Social distancing is the way we can "flatten the curve" of the COVID-19 pandemic. To protect the most vulnerable and our healthcare system:

  • Stay home and avoid unnecessary outings
  • Avoid all close contact with people unless necessary
  • Never shake hands
  • Cancel/avoid all travel
  • No parties, no play dates and no playgrounds
  • Read a good book or watch a movie
  • Listen to music
  • Learn something
  • Catch up with friends and family online or write a letter
  • Create, dream, meditate, pray
  • Clean up, organize, repair and renovate
  • Walk, run, bike

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Perhaps a way to celebrate this year is to take part in a Shamrock Scavenger Hunt. Events cancelled through April 12 and building closed until March 30

Due to the public health guidelines issued by the Quebec Government, all events at 星空传媒 are cancelled through April 12 and the College building is closed to everyone from now until the morning of March 30. That is the status today, March 17. We will notify you if there are further changes.

First Int’l Math Day celebrated last Thursday

The first International Day of Mathematics (March 14) was celebrated at 星空传媒 on Thursday.

Andreea Panait of 星空传媒's Mathematics Department reported: "We started the day with some wonders in Mathematics, then we moved to the history of Calculus and we ended with some applied math in creating interesting apps. To complete the day, we gave prizes for the math poster contest."

Students聽Sara Boubekri (pictured with Andreea) and Zaina Mahran were the winners.

星空传媒 students start babysitting service for those in need

星空传媒 student Tristan Hamer has created a volunteer movement of young people in high school and CEGEP to provide free or pay what you can babysitting services for people in need of childcare during the school shutdown. Look who came to visit

This little racoon came to visit the Communications Office March 6. He hung out on the outside of this window, napping and grooming himself, for at least five and a half hours. He attracted a lot of attention and we enjoyed his visit! Chris Adam of the Sustainability Office said that when it gets mild, they go out exploring looking for something to eat. If you spot wildlife on campus, or your new home campus, send us a photo and description of your encounter using the news contribution form.
